Development - Editing Our Music Video

We have taken enough footage to be able to start the editing process of our music video. We have downloaded 'Hey There Delilah' and as a team have been editing in our free periods and during practical lessons. Below is a video of our music video so far.

Development - Train Station Filming

Below are some shots taken from our train station filming. We chose a this location as it  fit the conventions of what we was aiming for a felt would appeal to the audience. It held the feelings and emotions we was trying to portray throughout. Although filming was hard due to the public throughout walking through some camera shots, after many takes we was able to get the shots that we was trying to get.

Development - Lake Filming

Below are some shots taken from our lake filming. We chose a lake as it was a romantic setting and fit the conventions of what we was aiming for a felt would appeal to the audience. The setting was good throughout the day as the sun was shinning and if we felt that we wanted to darken the shot we could always do so in editing after.

As for our introductory scene the group decided to use stop motion with scrabble letters that would build up to spell 'Plain White T's' and 'Hey There Delilah' it was necessary to get this piece of filming completed first. Therefore I volunteered to do this piece of filming myself and took a Hand-Held Camera and Tripod home so that I could capture this efficiently. The group decided that we would like it to be done on a wooden table and for it to have a red item in as this was part of the motif. Therefore I used a red pen as this would link to the idea of the game 'Scrabble' whilst also fitting with the motif. For this I had to take 66 individual shots, moving the Scrabble pieces very slightly each time. This will then be edited onto Premier Pro so that it flows and the scrabble pieces slowly build up to spell 'Plain White T's and 'Hey There Delilah'

One of the problems I found when conducting this shot was that there was not enough 'H's' within the scrabble set itself. Therefore to alternate around this issue I decided to use 'Blank' pieces which still makes it evident what it spells but the 'H's' can be edited onto the blanks if necessary on Premier Pro.

Development - Original Photography - 2nd Shoot

Band Shot original photography

Below are the thumbnails of our original photography for our band shots of 'Plain White T's.' The equipment we used were a green screen, still camera, a tripod and lights. When taking these images we had to consider proximity's, lighting, facial expressions and levels. We experimented with where to place me within the band shots and as I was the only girl it felt conventional to put me in the middle of every shot. We wanted our images to convey a serious and solemn effect to match the mood of the song 'Hey There Delilah' this meant that our facial expressions would be sad and/or serious gazes to show how we are feeling lonely. We wanted our shots to vary in terms of positioning and levels, we deciding to experiment using a chair for one member to sit on as we all crowd round. We also did a low level shot wherein we got very close together to look down at the camera. This was effective in terms of the way our heads were all positioned, for the front two were more enlarged, I was in the middle and the other two are slightly behind me, this broke away from just standing in a line at the same level. We experimented taking shots with and without lighting, it was clear that shots with higher lighting were of better quality which would mean the quality when editing would be more effective and clear.
